FACTS about Rock County’s Children
- 1 in 5 children live in poverty.
- 527 students were identified as homeless during the 2009‐10 school year.
- 100 of these students were living without a parent or guardian, most were in the 11th or 12th grade.
- Between 60% & 75% of homeless Janesville seniors graduate high school on time.
- Net lifetime increased contributions to society with a High School diploma per student is $127,000.
- There is no safe and stable place for homeless unaccompanied youth to find shelter in Rock County.
